What is a New Moon?

When is the New Moon?

The New Moon is the first phase of the lunar cycle, during which the moon is not visible in the night sky because it aligns with the sun. This lunar phase occurs when the moon is positioned between the Earth and the sun, causing its Earth-facing side to be completely hidden from our view. As the moon orbits the Earth, the illumination gradually increases, giving birth to the Waxing Crescent phase, followed by the other stages in the lunar cycle.
