Grounding
Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. - Annie Lamott
What is Grounding?
Grounding is when we create a psychic channel between our space and the earth, giving our subtle (energetic) bodies a "trash shoot" for energy that is no longer serving us, doesn't belong to us, or isn't in present time.
The practice of grounding can be done in less than 30 seconds, and will center you in the body, creating a subtle shift that will completely change your experience of yourself and your day.
How to Ground
Sitting down, close your eyes, and take a few deep breaths. Imagine coming inward, to your center, and relaxing. Using your imagination, picture a colored beam of light radiating from your tailbone through the ground, all the way down through the floor and into the center of the earth.
Imagine this cord expanding as wide as your hips, and give it permission to "pull" any energy from your space that is no longer serving you. With your intention these energies will naturally move down the grounding cord and out of your space, down into the center of the earth where they can become neutralized and recycled.
When to Ground
Try grounding anytime you feel stirred, agitated or anxious. You can ground when you wake up and set your space for the day, or as a way to drop your day before going to sleep.
As a daily practice, grounding will root you to the earth and clear your space, expanding your capacity to fill in that space with new creative energies like ease, joy, prosperity, freedom and vitality.
